Bombardier Global 8000: Range as a Statement

8,000 nm of range, a top speed of Mach 0.95 and a 2,691 ft cabin altitude: the Global 8000 explained, and how it relates to the Global 7500 it grew from.

The Global 8000 is Bombardier's answer to two questions at once: how far, and how fast. The manufacturer quotes a range of 8,000 nm at Mach 0.85 with eight passengers and four crew, and a top speed of Mach 0.95, which Bombardier describes as the fastest of any business jet in service. It entered service in December 2025, built on the airframe and cabin of the Global 7500, and its purpose is clear from the numbers: very long sectors, flown quickly, in a cabin pressurised close to the ground.

What changed from the Global 7500

From the outside, very little. The cabin dimensions are the same, and the jet still uses GE Passport engines, rated at 18,920 lb thrust each. The gains are in performance. Bombardier quotes the Global 7500 at 7,700 nm and Mach 0.925; the Global 8000 adds 300 nm and raises the top speed to Mach 0.95, a figure announced in October 2025 after the flight test campaign.

That shared airframe has a practical consequence. Bombardier offers Global 7500 owners an upgrade to Global 8000 performance under a service bulletin, through engineering and software changes rather than a new aircraft, and Vista began converting its Global 7500 fleet in 2026. For buyers of pre-owned aircraft, whether a given Global 7500 has been upgraded is now a question worth asking; see buying a pre-owned jet for the records that answer it.

The cabin

The cabin is 54 ft 5 in (16.59 m) long, measured from the cockpit divider to the aft end and excluding the baggage compartment, 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) high and 8 ft 0 in (2.44 m) wide. Bombardier divides it into four living spaces and certifies seating for up to 19. Behind the cabin sits a baggage compartment of about 195 cu ft (5.5 m³), reachable during flight.

Cabin altitude at 41,000 ft is 2,691 ft, which Bombardier presents as the lowest in business aviation production. Two features carry Bombardier's own names: the Nuage seat, with a reclined zero-gravity position, and Soleil, a lighting system built around the body's circadian rhythm. Internet options include Starlink and Gogo Galileo alongside JetWave hardware; Wi-Fi at altitude explains the differences.

Speed and runway

High-speed cruise is Mach 0.90, and Bombardier lists an ultra high-speed cruise of Mach 0.92. Maximum altitude is 51,000 ft and initial cruise altitude at maximum weight 43,000 ft. Takeoff distance at maximum weight, sea level and ISA is 5,760 ft (1,756 m); typical landing distance is 2,220 ft (677 m).

Speed matters little on a two-hour hop but noticeably on a 7,000 nm sector. In still air at cruise altitude, flying Mach 0.90 instead of 0.85 saves roughly 45 minutes over that distance, at the cost of range. The Global 8000's appeal is that it keeps a long reach even at the faster setting.

Where it reaches

  • Singapore to Los Angeles: about 7,600 nm great circle, inside the published figure.
  • Dubai to Los Angeles: about 7,200 nm.
  • New York to Hong Kong: about 7,000 nm, with room for the faster cruise.
  • Singapore to New York: about 8,300 nm, just beyond the brochure figure, and London to Sydney, about 9,200 nm, well beyond it.

As with every brochure range, these assume still air and the stated load. The Range Check tool gives a first look from a chosen departure airport.

Who it suits

The Global 8000 is for owners whose regular routes sit at the edge of what business jets can do: transpacific city pairs, the Gulf to the American West Coast, Asia to Europe with a full cabin. For them, the extra margin means fewer fuel stops in winter and the option of flying faster without losing the nonstop. Owners whose longest trip is London to New York do not need it, and a large-cabin jet with less range costs considerably less to run.

The obvious comparison is the Gulfstream G700. The Gulfstream offers a longer cabin by its own measure and up to five living areas; the Bombardier offers more range, a higher top speed and a lower quoted cabin altitude. Measurement conventions differ between manufacturers, so compare walk-throughs as well as numbers, a point covered in how to read a spec sheet.

Questions

How far can the Bombardier Global 8000 fly?

Bombardier quotes a theoretical range of 8,000 nm at Mach 0.85 with eight passengers, four crew, NBAA IFR reserves and ISA conditions. Actual range depends on speed, weather, routing and the aircraft's options.

What is the difference between the Global 7500 and the Global 8000?

The two share the same airframe, cabin and GE Passport engines. The Global 8000 is quoted at 8,000 nm and a top speed of Mach 0.95, against 7,700 nm and Mach 0.925 for the Global 7500, and it has a quoted cabin altitude of 2,691 ft at 41,000 ft.

Can a Global 7500 be upgraded to a Global 8000?

Yes. Bombardier offers existing Global 7500 aircraft an upgrade to Global 8000 performance through a service bulletin with engineering and software changes. Vista began converting its Global 7500 fleet in 2026.

When did the Global 8000 enter service?

Transport Canada certified the Global 8000 in November 2025, and Bombardier celebrated its entry into service with the first customer delivery in December 2025.
